The Friends of Bishop Ramsey (otherwise known as 'FBR') are a group of parents/carers/staff who meet informally every 6-8 weeks to discuss and plan fund raising activities such as Quiz Nights, Year 7 Welcome Discos, Fashion Shows, Locker Rental, Pre Loved School Uniform sales, Refreshments at parent evenings and other school events. The proceeds of these events are then used to purchase additional resources for the students to enhance their education, such as the Sports Mini Bus, Microphones & Stage Screens for Drama Department, sponsoring the Year 11 Prom and the Careers Fair, Well-being resources, Outdoor Table Tennis Tables, the Pavillion Canopy to name a few.
Why do we have The Friends of Bishop Ramsey?
The funds raised by FBR pay for many of the extras that will enhance our children’s learning experience at Bishop Ramsey. FBR exists to provide closer links between home and school and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal while having fun together! FBR introduced a Wish List for school departments and school groups to make bids for items they would like that will benefit students of Bishop Ramsey, and FBR choose which items they would like to support financially.
Don’t forget, as parents/carers you are already a member of 'FBR', so why not come along? We would love you to join us in fundraising for the benefit of our children. All parents/carers and members of the school community can get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available; new ideas are always welcome.
Matched Funding
FBR is a registered charity. Many companies will help charities through a Community Matched Giving Scheme, which means the company matches any funds raised by FBR or gives a donation.
Why not ask your HR Dept whether your company operates this scheme or something similar? Let us know if your organisation is willing to support our future events and make FBR’s fundraising even more valuable.
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
FBR’s Annual General meeting is held in the Autumn term in the school Atrium. This is an opportunity for all parents/carers to come along and hear in more detail about the events run and funds raised and how the money has been spent. It is also the time when we elect our new committee.
