We were delighted to host over 300 pupils, students and staff from Church of England Primary and Secondary schools on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th November, as part of the massed choir project which Bishop Ramsey leads on. This will culminate in the London Diocesan Board for Schools annual schools’ service at St Paul’s Cathedral on 1st February 2024, where the choir will perform the anthem under the dome of the Cathedral.
Various group workshops and performances took place over the two-day event with the corridors, Hall and Music suites full of beautiful music and song. This was a fantastic opportunity for Church of England schools to come together to promote choral singing as one. We were once again delighted to welcome back the London Community Gospel Choir and joining us for the first time to also work with the choirs was Tenebrae.
Visitors included Archdeacon Ven. Catherine Pickford and various members of clergy who are connected with the schools who took part visited Bishop Ramsey during the event to experience the atmosphere. This project is entirely funded by the generosity of the London Diocese Willesden Area Council Schools’ Fund.
Rehearsals will contnue in the schools, led by both our Choir Project Director and the Head of Music Education at St Paul's Cathedral, in the lead up to the performance day.
The following schools joined with our own Canterbury Choir across the two-day event, making this a truly wonderful project to be a part of:
